Attorney

It is no surprise that as an attorney, you are going to have to assume a wide range of responsibilities.  Attorneys are in charge of dealing with legal issues on behalf of their client.  This means that they have to do a great deal of work in order to successfully meet this goal.  A good attorney is someone that can do so effectively for all of their clients.  Attorneys work very hard each day to stay true to that model.  But what exactly does an attorney do on a daily basis?  What are some of the obstacles that attorneys have to work through?  This can all be understood if you fully understand the job description of an attorney.

1.  As an attorney, you are going to have to analyze legal issues that are presented to you at client consultations.  Attorneys sort through the facts and get to the bottom line of the issues.  Attorneys are able to determine after weighing all the details, who is right, and who is wrong in the legal matter.  Having a job as an attorney means that there is a line between what is black and what is white in your industry, and you have to be able to decipher what that is in any given case that you choose to take on.  From there attorneys build a case based on the evidence that they are provided.  Attorneys also fall back on the legal testimony to tie all the pieces together.

2.  One of the things that you will find yourself doing as an attorney is an exorbitant amount of research.  Attorneys research their industry on a weekly basis to determine if there has been any legal changes in policy.  They are constantly researching the details of their clients cases.  Attorneys also find themselves researching the public trials and decisions of similar cases that they are in the process of preparing a legal disposition for.

3.  Attorneys also have to engage in correspondence with the courts on behalf of their clients.  As an attorney, you are going to have to prepare many legal documents on behalf of your client.  You will be faxing and mailing correspondence to the other parties in the court case, as well as composing legal motions on behalf of your client.  An attorney also has to gather information, such as the discovery in a legal case.  This is how attorneys are able to gather the court evidence so that they may most accurately outline a plan of approach.  Aside from corresponding on your behalf, an attorney will also be responsible for reviewing any correspondences for their clients before they are submitted to the appropriate authorities.
